Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Velvet Rule, including its website, applications, features and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into these Terms.
Velvet Rule is intended solely for consenting adults. You may not use the Service if you are under 18.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service is lawful in your jurisdiction.
2. Your Account
You must provide accurate information when creating and maintaining your account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for activity occurring through your account.
You must not share access to your account with another person or access another person's account without authorisation.
You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Connections
Velvet Rule allows users to create private workspaces called Connections.
Connections may include individual or shared features such as agreements, rules, routines, tasks, Journey progression, timers, journal entries and other records.
Joining a Connection does not by itself constitute acceptance of its rules, agreements or proposed changes.
Where acceptance is required, each relevant participant must make their own decision.
4. Consent and User Autonomy
Velvet Rule provides tools for users to document, organise and communicate their own arrangements.
The Service does not provide consent on behalf of any person.
A previous agreement, template, rule, activity, relationship, elapsed period or software action does not constitute continuing or future consent.
Users remain responsible for communicating with each other and obtaining any consent required for their activities.
No rule, role, agreement, instruction or feature of the Service removes a person's ability to decline, stop, pause or leave.
5. Agreements and Changes
Users may use Velvet Rule to prepare and record agreements.
Private drafts do not affect other users unless deliberately shared.
Where a proposed change requires acceptance from another participant, it does not replace the existing accepted arrangement until the required acceptance has occurred.
Velvet Rule may preserve historical versions of agreements and related records so users can distinguish previous arrangements from current ones.
6. Rules, Journey and Progression
Velvet Rule may provide tools for creating rules, organising them into levels or phases, recording progress and conducting reviews.
Progress indicators, schedules, completion records and other information provided by the Service are organisational tools only.
Progression does not replace human judgment or agreement.
Where the Service allows an authorised participant to record a review outcome, that outcome represents the user's recorded decision and not an independent determination by Velvet Rule.
7. Habits, Tasks and Timers
Users may create or participate in habits, tasks, schedules and timers.
These features are organisational tools. They do not create an obligation outside the arrangements voluntarily made between users.
Where acceptance or verification is required, completion of an activity does not automatically constitute acceptance or verification.
Timer information, completion records and activity history may be retained as part of the relevant Connection history.
8. Journal and Private Content
Velvet Rule may provide private journal and note-taking features.
Where sharing functionality is available, you control whether eligible content is deliberately shared with a Connection or another user.
You are responsible for reviewing what you choose to share.
A recipient may retain information that you have voluntarily shared with them even if you later modify or delete your own copy.
9. Pause and Leaving
Velvet Rule may provide controls allowing participants to pause or leave Connections.
A Pause may suspend affected features or activities within the Service.
The technical status of a Connection does not determine anyone's rights or obligations outside the Service.
Users remain responsible for respecting another person's decision to stop, withdraw or disengage.
10. Professional Features
Certain accounts may have access to features designed for users who manage multiple client Connections.
Professional functionality is provided as an organisational tool only.
Templates, notes, assessments and other professional features do not constitute acceptance or consent on behalf of another person.
Professionals are independently responsible for their services, conduct, qualifications, legal obligations and relationships with their clients.
Velvet Rule does not endorse, certify or guarantee any professional using the Service unless expressly stated otherwise.
11. User Content
You retain ownership of content that you create and submit to the Service.
You grant Velvet Rule a limited licence to host, store, process, reproduce and display your content to the extent necessary to operate, secure and provide the Service.
You must have the right to upload or share any content you submit.
You must not upload content that is unlawful, infringes another person's rights, or violates these Terms.
12. Acceptable Use
You must not use Velvet Rule to:
- exploit, groom, sexualise or otherwise harm minors;
- facilitate non-consensual conduct;
- threaten, stalk, harass or abuse another person;
- facilitate human trafficking or exploitation;
- upload unlawful or infringing material;
- impersonate another person;
- gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
- distribute malware or malicious code;
- interfere with the operation or security of the Service;
- scrape or systematically extract data without authorisation; or
- use the Service for unlawful purposes.
We may investigate suspected violations and restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service or others.
13. User Interactions
Velvet Rule provides software through which users may organise and record their own arrangements.
We are not a party to arrangements between users.
We do not supervise users' offline activities or guarantee another user's identity, conduct, representations, qualifications, reliability or compliance with an agreement.
You are responsible for your own interactions and decisions.
14. Safety
Software cannot determine whether an activity is appropriate or safe for a particular person or situation.
You are responsible for evaluating your own circumstances and taking appropriate precautions.
Velvet Rule is not an emergency service.
If you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency services.
15. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, interface, branding, design and original content provided by Velvet Rule, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except where expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer or commercially exploit any part of the Service.
These restrictions do not affect your ownership of your own User Content.
16. Third-Party Services
Velvet Rule may rely on or link to third-party services.
We are not responsible for third-party services, and their own terms and privacy practices may apply.
The availability of a third-party integration or link does not constitute an endorsement unless expressly stated.
17. Availability and Changes
We may modify, add, remove or discontinue features of the Service.
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
We may perform maintenance, implement security measures or restrict functionality where reasonably necessary.
18. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Velvet Rule at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe that:
- these Terms have been materially violated;
- the Service is being used unlawfully;
- another person may be at risk;
- an account presents a security risk; or
- suspension or termination is reasonably necessary to protect the Service or its users.
Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to remedy the issue.
Certain records may remain after termination where reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution or legitimate record-keeping purposes, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
19. Disclaimer
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.
Velvet Rule is an organisational and record-keeping platform. It does not provide legal, medical, psychological or other regulated professional advice.
You remain responsible for decisions made using information recorded or presented through the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Velvet Rule will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses arising from your use of the Service.
We are not responsible for the independent conduct of users or for activities occurring outside the Service merely because those activities were discussed, organised or recorded through Velvet Rule.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by law.
21. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, liabilities, losses and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your material breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
22. Privacy
Our collection, use and disclosure of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Where changes are material, we may provide reasonable notice through the Service or another appropriate method.
Your continued use of the Service after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore.
Subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws, disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
25. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
A failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations in connection with a restructuring, merger, acquisition, sale of business or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly applicable to a feature, constitute the agreement governing your use of the Service.
